Why home charging cost varies so much between people
Unlike gasoline, which has a fairly uniform price at any given station, home electricity rates vary enormously - by location, utility provider, and even time of day under time-of-use billing plans that charge less overnight. This is exactly why EV running costs are often quoted as a wide range rather than a single number: someone charging overnight in a low-cost region might pay a fraction of what someone charging during peak hours in an expensive market pays, for the exact same car and the exact same miles driven.

Check your vehicle's window sticker or manufacturer specs - it's sometimes listed as "MPGe" or as kWh per 100 miles, which you can convert (100 divided by that figure gives miles per kWh).

Usually, yes - public DC fast chargers typically charge a premium for speed and convenience, often multiple times the cost of overnight home charging on a standard residential rate.
Does cold weather affect these numbers?
Yes - cold temperatures typically reduce real-world efficiency (more miles per kWh becomes fewer), so winter costs per mile are often higher than this estimate suggests.
