Why this runs in your browser, not a server
Every tool here processes your file on your own device. There is no upload to a server, no account, and no file that exists anywhere but your own browser tab while you work with it — which is why a document with personal or business information in it is safe to run through these rather than an unknown web service. The trade-off is scale: a 500-page PDF or a very large batch of images will be slower here than in dedicated desktop software, because your browser is doing the work rather than a server built for it. A few tools — PDF OCR, PDF to Excel, PDF to PowerPoint, Markdown to Word — load an additional library the moment you actually use them, never before, so opening this page costs nothing extra whichever tool you end up needing.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Every one of these tools processes your file inside your own browser using JavaScript — nothing is sent to a server, stored, or seen by anyone else. That is why they work offline once the page has loaded, and why they are safe to use on documents with personal or confidential information.
Is there a file size or page limit?
There is no limit built into the tools themselves, but because processing happens in your browser rather than on a server, a very large file — several hundred pages, or dozens of high-resolution images — will run slower and use more of your device's memory than the same job in desktop software. For a handful of pages or images, it is effectively instant.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Every tool runs directly in the page — no plugin, no extension, no account. It works the same way on a phone, tablet or desktop, in any modern browser.
Can I edit the text inside a PDF?
Not directly — these tools handle structure (merging, splitting, rotating, converting) rather than editing text inside an existing PDF. To pull the wording out first, use PDF to Text for plain text (with OCR for scanned pages) or PDF to Markdown for structured Markdown, edit it there, then convert back with Markdown to PDF or Markdown to Word.
What's the difference between the Markdown Editor and Markdown to PDF?
The Markdown Editor is for writing and previewing — you see formatted output beside your Markdown as you type, but nothing is exported. Markdown to PDF and Markdown to Word each take a finished Markdown file and produce a downloadable document from it.
Which tool turns a PDF into a Word or Excel file?
Use PDF to Word when you need an editable DOCX file. Use PDF to Excel when the document contains a table you want in a spreadsheet. Both tools process the file in your browser without uploading it.
