Why some schools don't use plus/minus grades at all
Not every school uses the full plus/minus system shown here - some use only whole-letter grades (A, B, C, D, F), each worth a flat 4.0, 3.0, 2.0, 1.0, or 0.0 with no intermediate values. If your school doesn't use plus/minus grading, simply use the flat letter value instead of the +/- variant, since your actual transcript won't have those in-between grades to convert.

Frequently asked questions
Is A+ always worth more than A?
Usually not on the standard US 4.0 scale - most schools cap GPA at 4.0, so A+ and A both typically convert to the same 4.0 value, even though A+ reflects a higher percentage score. Some schools do give A+ a value above 4.0; check your school's specific policy.
How do I convert an international grade to US GPA?
International grading systems (UK degree classifications, European ECTS grades, and others) don't map directly onto the US 4.0 scale, and conversion methods vary by the receiving institution - check with the specific school or organization requesting the conversion for their preferred method.
